A stunning win. 103(?) runs behind on first innings on a pitch offering little. Solid batting in the 2nd innings with everyone contributing either runs and/or time at the crease. Then to bowl out Pakistan with every bowler showing patience and no little guile was superb. The most disciplined bowling display I've seen by England for some time. Brilliant. An excellent team performance. Fantastic.
Brilliant result! It was 136-4 when I last checked and I thought Yorkshire had it in the bag. What a feather in TRJ's cap to win it in that way.:sign15:
Great result today. First time Middlesex have won it since 1993! Can't believe how long ago that was now!
Not a massive cricket fan, apart from Engalnd, but could, not believe they had not won it since 1993, was surprised that Somerset never won it either, felt a bit sorry for them as that match would had been a draw, watched it, the good thing about cricket is that the team with the best coaches and academy's can win it and not the clubs with the most money, Be interesting to see how Essex do next season
Great win for Middlessex - from the way the declaration was made it looks like both teams agreed to get a win / lose result and not allow Somerset to win by default
When I put my porridge on we were 100-0. By the time I got 10 minutes into my journey to the club it was all over.:dismay:
Gotta applaud them plucky Bangladeshians. They've got some good players & they all give 100%. I'm a huge fan of the England cricket team but I was genuinely pleased for them.
Were England a complete shambles, or was it that Bangladesh have just unleashed the next Shane Warne on the world of cricket with their new young spin sensation? Probably a mixture of the two, as I do think Bangladesh do have a new super star spinner and the new young batsman was very good too!
Also England didn't play a full strength squad, though that it itself is worrying if we get a few injuries to key players and I wonder how much the security concerns affected the others' games?
Agree WFC4' You can't go into 2 test matches hoping to save a series with just recognizable batsman, one playing his debut and then 2nd test. The selection panel want shooting
It was always going to be a hard series, going to play the best team in the world on their own doorstep but thought we would give them a better game then that, why take a your up and coming duckett and drop him after 2 tests, what does that do for his confidence, either take him and play him or leave him out, as for the bowlers, Jimmy Anderson has been great for us but time to retire from test cricket, the less said about our spinners the better, we really need another Swann, friend went out there for it and said he totally enjoyed it, I went out there 10 years ago (I think) when cook made his debut and it is a great tour to go on even with all the hassle out there, would recommend it to anyone, far better laugh and value then Australia.
What a ****ing shambles, a ****ing disgrace, this lot make WFC's current form look world class :dismay:
I've lived in France for 5 years and we used to play cricket there. Super! It's growing popular with French guys. Actually the country has a long a cricket history. Some cricket historians even claim that the game was invented by the French men. They also claim that French soldiers played before going into battle against the English at Agincourt. Ha-ha-ha.
Morgan seems to be making up for lost time - knowing his place is under threat I guess after missing the Bangladesh tour.
So Cook is stepping down - right move to give Root the chance to settle into the role before the Ashes?
Shame cook could not have left on a higher note, right decision though, hope he bats for a few ore years, all round nice bloke and a bloody good batsman, did not realise his % was not as goods as others, considering we were no1 in the world for a while, not sure if root is the correct choice, surprised we don't have a test until July. Not sure of any other options as captain, should always be a batsman or all rounder, root has a lot on his shoulder, maybe a step too far.
Glad the Cricket is back. I am a fan of the Northamptonshire Steelbacks, and I go and watch a lot of the T20 at Wantage Road. They've had a lot of success in the last few years in the Blast, winning it twice and losing finalists. They have no cash, unlike the big teams, so have fashioned a side that is a very good T 20 team - where the County make their decent cash.
This One Day competition seems to be rushed along - is it so the domestic 50 over stuff doesn't get in the way of the Champions Trophy?
Think the idea was to divide the season into "blocks": CC, T20, one-day etc, rather than having bits and pieces scattered through the year. Seems a bit odd though.
And the bowling isn't bad either. Still we probably won't win the Champions Trophy - its England. Rain will get in the way or something.
We do seem to have a remarkably good 1 day side now (and T20), especially considering how poor we were just a couple of years ago. Meanwhile our test side has declined somewhat. It's almost as if you can't be good at both forms of the game at the same time.
Fantastic partnership of 224 from Mahmudullah and Shakib edging Bangladesh toward a famous victory against the Kiwis (and good news for the Aussies?)
