Man, I was never convinced by Tannehill, especially if he's going in the first round and ends up a starter. Watched him a lot this season due to the Mrs being an aggie and he just never did it for me. On the other hand I went to A&M vs Baylor and despite his team getting pretty hammered, RGIII was the real deal that day. I get that RT ticks all of the physical boxes etc, but the dude played a big role in a well-fancied A&M team failing fairly badly last season. A lot of the aggies I speak to aren't sure he's ready to be stepping up and starting in the NFL just yet. Obviously not an issue today, but I'll be keeping an eye out for my Coogs Case Keenum and Patrick Edwards in the later rounds. Really hope those guys find a team for themselves after what they achieved this season.
Luck to indy and RG3 to the redskins was hardly surprising. Titans picking offence in round 1 with such obvious holes on defence - that is surprising.
Cool, Andrew Luck is a Dynamo fan. I knew he went to high school in H-Town, but I didn't realize his dad worked for the Dynamo FO.
A tweet came out during the draft saying that Calvin Johnson hasn't played madden since college, and buys the new Fifa every year.. soccer is all over the NFL
Case Keenum signs with the Texans after going undrafted. Maybe he'll get a chance when Schaub gets injured again.
Kellen Moore ends up with the lions after going undrafted.. don't see how some one wouldn't take a pick on a QB that went 50-3 as a starter
Yeah, that's crazy, especially as a bunch of QB's got taken. Still, likely to be Detroits gain, they get him without using a draft pick. Patrick Edwards, the UH star WR also ended up in Detroit. Man, I'm already getting stoked for the new college season in the fall.
Cal punter, yes PUNTER, Bryan Anger got drafted. That is very unusual. Highest drafted punter since '95 or something. He was also the first Cal player drafted this year. Mitchell Schwartz -Browns Mychal Kendricks - Eagles Bryan Anger - Jaguars Marvin Jones - Bengals D.J. Campbell - Panthers Trevor Guyton -Vikings I think Marvin Jones is going to be huge. He got stuck at Cal as a great receiver behind some truly horrible QB play.
Nice. Doesn't surprise me for a second. Honestly, before I moved here, I literally had zero idea that college sports were such a big deal. Hell, my local high school has attendances that beat WFC at times. Choice between NFL and college, it's college for me every day of the week.
In case you are thinking about picking an NFL team to follow, try this flow chart. A healthy knowledge of the character of individual American cities helps.
Haha. Nice post. I find myself genuinely excited for the start of the college football season next Thursday. Less excited about NFL, but still looking forward to it. Texans are looking likely to have a strong season, provided they can keep Andre and Foster fit, healthy, and productive. The college game gets my juices flowing though.
The Jaguars are basically the London team.. they play in London like the next 4 years in a row, instead of a home game.
Yeah, the link indicates the NFL is trying to manipulate interest in the Jags in London as a test. If the needle moves, they'll know they can put a team there that Londoners will rally around. Kind of tough to use the Jaxuars in that capacity...it's a bit like piloting soccer abroad using Stoke City.
Not sure how I've never seen this thread, but having grown up in America i'm a massive NFL fan. In terms of locality I should follow Miami Dolphins, but they suck (could have changed if they'd got manning). I'm trying to decide on who to follow this year, I'm not sure why, but I've always liked the Vikings, but Robert Griffin III makes me like the redskins, I'll also be following Andrew Luck at the Colts, although I don't think he'll even get close to matching the hype. Need advice on who to follow for this year... I love Texas football, which makes me draw towards Houston.
Texans are terrible... Dolphins are a train wreck. NFC teams are definitely in the ascension but I I love watching the AFC's Steelers and Ravens play two or three times a year. I am a Ravens fan, and things haven't been going our way as much as theirs, but there is no better series to watch all year. I used to be an AFC West fan, either Raiders or Chargers, but mostly Chargers. They are mediocre now. You gotta appreciate the ability for the Patriots to make incredible trades and stay relevant, but as an Englishman, you can't support them. That's all the advice I can give you. Sonofben will say you should follow the Eagles, but they keep flopping. TVOR's son would recommend the Cowboys but they are dreadful despite having a rich ass owner unafraid to spend a buck to get a player. Inexplicably the long lost Evasive likes the Tennessee Titans.
Ignore Fitz, this is the Texans year. Plus, we've got the best 3rd choice QB in the league - Case Keenum. Go Coogs! Follow Houston. F*** the Cowboys. Pumped for the start of College Football on Thursday evening, should be an interesting season with all the conference changes.
