So you'd rather play an inconsistent under-performing has been loser ahead of a highly rated England U21 player? Hmmm fair enough. Fact is the target is getting back to the Prem. How we do it, and with whom, is irrelevant. Whatever happens the team will need revamping next summer.

I doubt that but there's probably an option to extend it til the end of the season if the deal is working for both clubs.

Thats two good points. If we can extend it to the end of the season, and we go up, what's stopping us buying him? They have downing, and other good players coming through, so if we offered enough we could get him IMO

What if we get promoted and "Boro" go down? He would probably want to stay then

Wouldn't be so pointless then, would it

I dont reckon we will sign him, he ripped us apart last season, he'll definately be one of their future stars.

Slow down! We've not even seen him play in a WFC shirt yet! Most of you that have seen him have only seen him play once and that was against possibly the worst left back (other than Powell) of the Premiership 06/07 season!

Lets just see how he does tomorrow to even consider extending the loan letalone sign him properly!

I hardly think Stewart was the worst left back last season...

I think the best thing about this is that the story mentions that Aidy approached Southgate to loan him and then Southgate called him back to see if he was still interested. Boothroyds be chastised by many on these boards for "not even expressing an interest in Scott Sinclair", or whichever young taste of the month it is. This goes to show that just because we don't hear about it doesn't mean Aidy isn't sniffing around them!

    A good signing!

It also shows the respect that managers such as Southgate have for Adie

Southgate is the cousin of one of my son's ex girlfriends so I can confirm that he comes from the WAtford area.

But we won't ever be able to buy him. Its like giving a deaf man a stereo.

How long is his loan for? He was fantastic today.

If we can keep him until the end of the season, and we are promoted, depending on how well middlesbrough end up doing and whether we would be prepared to spend big money and whether he likes it here etc. you never know...

I'd love to say you have no chance of buying him, but I was surprised that Southy let Morrison go to WBA. So who knows what will happen... he's a bit of a fans favorite up here though so we won't take lightly to him leaving.

Welcome Shambles. Adam was brilliant when he came on yesterday. Very direct and attacked their left-back full on.
I have high hopes for his three months but dont expect him to join us on a permanant. I know he is highly thought of up there so i assume he has a big future ahead of him.
One thing i will guarantee is he will come back to you a fitter and more competitive player after his stint with us. Aidy is very good at developing young players and gives them a fair go.

Do you think anyone would notice if we sent back Macca or Muff instead?

It was a good first start - let's see if he is consistent and produces the goods over a period of time rather than just 30 minutes. Even Kabba has had good 30 minute spells, but the signs were very promising.

Johnson is more highly thought of up here than Downing believe it or not. He can beat a man with ease and put a very decent ball in. I don't think he made much of an impact when he was on loan at Leeds last season but he's definitely starting to mature, and hopefully he can help your boys out. :)
