so hes defo not going to preston and says on there site hes decided to stay and fight for a first team place!
Good. Doesn't this mean that AB hasn't mishandled or mismanaged the situation? Henderson is willing to stay and fight for a place and he wouldn't do that if he didn't believe the manager would give him a chance. Maybe he's just moving to a bigger house in Chorleywood after all
That thought ran though my head too. For all the talk about Aidy showing faith in Doris and giving him another chance, I think we should be concentrating on the fact that Doris believes in the cause enough to give Aidy another chance. He could have gone, the door was open. I hope people get behind him 110% because he's made on hell of a committment to this club. In fact it's the kind of committment fans often cry out for.
Glad this is sorted, not his biggest fan but he deserves another chance in this league more due to the fact that we have not been able to replace him though! For once, a good deal by the club in that we did not sell him before getting a replacement in. Though more likely to be a sub this season, he will provide a good alternative to the Priskin and King combo.
They did though. WFC accepted the bid and gave him permission to talk to PNE. It was his decision to stay...I don't believe for a minute that WFC would have vetoed it.
One stays, one goes Preston reveal Darius has chosen to stay at The Vic and fight for his place in the team Bouazza off to Fulham for £4.2 according to W.O.
Good on the bloke. Hes not good enough in my opinion but as far as not good enough players go hes up there in my favourites yet again this time for his loyalty.
Echoing alot of other peoples sentiments r.e Hendo. Not his biggest fan by any means, however had he gone we'd have lost ANOTHER proven scorer at this level! 05/06 season King 22 Henderson 15 Young 15 Spring 10 Two have left, could so easily have been three! Fair play to Hendo, he's gained alot more respect from me for a show of loyalty! Bouazza the French sulk (le sulk) can do one! £4,200,000 is crazy money for such a jekyll and hyde player! Far too inconsistent to have that kind of price tag! Chris Brunt for £2,000,000 would be a great replacement Aidy!!
I agree we should support Henderson for showing faith in the club. I'm not cynical enough to think he might also have made a committment to a big mortgage in the locality too.
First bit of good news for a while. Like I have said before, I know who I would least like to defend against out of Priskin, Hoskins, Kabba and Bouazza. I hope Hendo has been looking at these boards and realised that the fans did not want to lose him anyway. Trust we will all let him know the next time he pulls on the yellow shirt. Will we be seeing more of Carly again now.
Nice one Hendo :sign12: I have to admit I would not have been too bothered had he gone, but like others have said, he has gained new respect from me for his attitude and loyalty :sign15: As for Bouazza, if the reports about Fulham are true, then good riddance to him :sign6: It has probably worked out for the best, as we get to keep a loyal hard working player who wants to play for our club and get rid of an ungrateful little :sign3: who doesn't.
yeah... although i did go a bit over the top at the first hearing of the news and ripped up my hendo poster in anguish and pure pain. He better bloody stay!
Henderson Rejects Preston http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/w/watford/6921978.stm Henderson rejects Preston switch Henderson scored three Premiership goals last season Watford striker Darius Henderson has rejected a move to Championship rivals Preston North End. The two clubs had agreed an undisclosed fee for the 25-year-old, but he has chosen to remain at Vicarage Road and fight for his place. Sheffield Wednesday boss Brian Laws had also revealed his interest in signing Henderson last week. "We're disappointed, but I hope to use the money in other areas," boss Paul Simpson told Preston's website. "The chairman has been fantastic in backing us financially, and what we need to do is make sure we spend that money wisely." Henderson has scored 17 goals in 65 league appearances since joining Watford from Gillingham two years ago.
Like some other users, I have not always beleived in Hendo's ability, but in the absence of a viable replacement this is welcome news (though the idea of flogging him before we had a replacement actually signed baffles me). Fair play to Doris for showing a bit of loyalty - his reward, even myself, Bubble and Orns2000 have positive things to say about him. Now I hope he goes one step further and proves me wrong by having a great season, including scoring a hat-trick against PNE.
Hendo stays As seen on Yahoo just now Watford's Darius Henderson has decided against joining Preston after the clubs agreed a fee for the striker. More StoriesDarius Henderson profile Henderson, 25, was also a target for a third Championship club, Sheffield Wednesday - but it seems that he will now stay at Vicarage Road. "We're disappointed, but I hope to use the money in other areas," North End manager Paul Simpson said of the rejection. "The chairman has been fantastic in backing us financially, and what we need to do is make sure we spend that money wisely." Henderson signed for the Hornets from Gillingham two years ago and is a consistent goal-scorer in the lower leagues, but managed only three goals in 35 appearances in the Premiership last season. COOL!!!
I am very pleased that Hendo has decided to stay and fight - at least for now. He's always given 100% and I am not the least bit surprise by this show of loyalty. I doubt he'll be in the starting 11 often but on the other hand I have no doubt he'll play a very important part of our season - especially against lesser sides trying to dig in for a 0-0 draw. Against those sides, a player of Hendo's unique skill set is his weight worth in gold. I actually hope that Aidy forgets about strikers and concentrates on the two footed winger and a couple of fullbacks.
iam so happy at this news and his loyality, i think he will score some important goals and he gives our team another chance to play a different style of football when more direct play is needed fair play to the lad
Not Hendo`s biggest fan .. that is Carly But I am very high on the list - the guy always gives 100% and sweats blood for the club - just wish some of his team mates (with more natural ability) were as committed. It is not always the most gifted players who achieve the best results, and I even think that a second run in the Prem. would produce 7-8 goals, remember he was playing in a side that was struggling most weeks. Delighted he is staying - takes a BIG man to stay and fight. It is also a good sign for potential new recruits that people don`t want to bail out.
maybe this by Henderson will teach something to Bouazza that just because you have the chance to leave doesnt mean you should
I hope Aidy abandons the search for a two footed winger, and signs a one eyed sea captain with a peg-leg.
F***ing good on Hendo, I don't want him to leave and he's shown what a fighter he is by staying. Although last season we resulted to hoofball with him in the team I'm confident we can still play a mixed game in the champ with him in the side
Good point, but we shouldn't forget the fact that we are _not_ in the Premiership right now. If there's one thing we need in this league it's a big strong goal-scoring forward who can create havoc in the box on a rainy day in Bristol. If Hendo had gone - how often do you think we would see Shittu or DeMerit thrown up front in the dying minutes of matches when we desperately needed a goal? Too often. How often would we see Hoskins or King drawn back into our own box to defend a corner kick two minutes into injury time to fend of a late attack to win a dreadful match 1-0? Too often. Hendo is the man who can do the dirty jobs when we need it, and he's a much better player than people seem to think. It's not easy to be alone with four Man Utd defenders through 90 minutes with aimless balls hoofed up towards you while the rest of the team sits back trying to recover from yet another assault from some of the best players in the world. Darius is a legend for staying and proving Aidy wrong.
Spot on. Buying for the Premiership is all good but it doesn't guarantee promotion by any stretch of the imagination. Better to stick with what we know works and deal with the ramifications of promotion when we get there.
