Theres a website for the La Manga centre. I looked at it to see what teams were there when I was there a few years back
Birdy I shall try it out based on the recommendation Four rounds booked for under £200, public rate per round is £126!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Two on the South course and one each on the North and west. there is also a high quality pitch and putt apparently, think it may be par 47.
Don't play the West course, it is up in the hills, the par fives you have to hit a 5 iron off the tee just to stay on the fairways
Birdy I didn't read this before i went, but am shocked. I actually thought the West was the best course, I shot my lowest round (90), South and north were both mid 90's everytime. The views were superb and the course very, very quiet. Very tight but ideal for someone like me who loves a dog leg left. South was very good and very tough in places, thought north was the easiest and blandest of all three. Superb resort, with some superb restaurants and bars around the complex. Had a drink one night with a hero of yours Kenny Dalglish, he plays every Sunday when he can with other old pros, Stuart pearson of manure fame was with him, they drink in a bar called the last drop.
I am glad you had a good time at La Manga as it is quality resort, I just hate the West Course as there are very few holes that I can take my Driver out on and know I can hit the Fairway, the first on the West is a five iron to stay short of the lake, the third a par five, I have to hit 3 iron to stay short of the burn, the only hole I can hit a driver off is 18. The last drop, is that the bar by the buggy/caddy shack because I also had a beer with Kenny while watching a Liverpool game. Piano bar is great but expensive, did you go in there ? Great resort and now I feel I have to go back there again
Birdy top time, yes its expensive but well worth it IMO. No the last drop is on the small parade opposite the petrol station, picture of Kenny up on the wall, owner is an English bloke, KD was very friendly. never made it to the Piano bar () as the restaurants and bars around the place were all good and when we did plan to go there one night we got weigh laid elsewhere again.
Can't remember the hole but the long par 3 uphill, small green on the West was very hard, thick rough and OB on both sides.
Shame as Brian the Piano man is quality entertainment, does loads of Elton John and Billy Joel and gets the place rocking
A girl friend of mine stayed there in March and met an english county cricket team and slept with a player She even sold her story to the Sun newspaper but he's got good lawyers and put a gagging order on them....but the story will come out one day. Watch this space.
Actually the person he shared a room with, tried to get in on the act, but she wasn't having any of that. She spent three nights with the naughty man in her own appartment....... She's gutted at missing out on £10k for her story though. The Sun were going to do a two day feature on it, but didn't have enough evidence even though they had recorded a secret conversation with his agent saying he knew he slept with her!!.... Gary O'Shea from the Sun was in Spain (where she lives) for nearly two weeks taking the story, but he must have messed it up as they didn't get enough evidence.... oh well.....I nearly knew a famous person...lol
