Jordan Stewart named CAPTAIN for game V Blackburn Harry Hornet and his misses up front then I presume????????
i find the term 'mental' offensive and would hope that you change it. (joking of course) Jordan stewart captain when malky, jay and shittu are in the team, what is going on.
Hells Bells! Jay dropped- Francis in - Gav out Ben Foster Adrian Mariappa Dan Shittu Malky Mackay Jordan Stewart (c) Tommy Smith Al Bangura Damien Francis Hameur Bouazza Darius Henderson Will Hoskins SUBS: Richard Lee Jay DeMerit Tamas Priskin Chris Powell Ashikodi
I was thinking the same thing. No Mahon - we're feked. And the choice of Malky is odd to me also. Poor Jay not getting a chance. Anyways - this just makes us create even a bigger surprise when we beat the *******s.
stewart may not be the greatest player but theres nothing to suggest he dosent have the respect of the other players or the ability to lead.
I thought he was excellent. He had a captain's game. Saved on the goal line and contributed 100percent for the whole match. An inspired decision by Boothroyd, the man with the vision.
No Mahon- poor uneducated comment. We were better. Poor Jay- rested after playing so many games. No surprise because we actually played football this evening.
My only concern was again how deep we played towards the end of the game, glad it was so cold and I had gloves on, so my nails have been saved.
Savage didnt have an easy night. One strong challenge from bang bang and he was strechered off. Cheerio cheerio cheerio.
The entire stadium was shouting at them to come out! They seemed to get stuck on the edge of the penalty area like there was a big magnet in the Vic Road end stopping them from moving away.
Shows how very little you know, Bangura crashed into Savage twice and apparently he's out for the season with a broken leg. Whilst Francis had a storming game.
Probably security. Malky for one doesn't have the pace to run back so he'd rather stay there. The rest probably feel it's safer. But the fact is it's a lot safer if you're playing in the other team's half. The ball was getting launched up the field and no-one was following it!
Francis had a fantastic five minutes which really lifted the crowd, who in turn lifted the whole team. If only he could put in that effort for 90 minutes.
Stewart had a storming game tonight, as did Henderson and Francis in particular. I thought Malks would've been the obvious choice as captain but I've been proved wrong - as one of his biggest fans I'm delighted that he got the chance.
yup stewart had a great game and the captaincy appeared to inspire him. during the game and at the end, he did a mooney type "c'mon" to the fans. also, a marvellous goal line clearance and a few very decent crosses when he whipped the ball in instead of that ridiculous dink he does. and I thought damien francis did put in his all in for 90 minutes. he had an excellent game and there was one moment where he lost control of the ball and he seemed genuinely annoyed with himself. not quite the couldn't care less footballer as some on here have complained of lately. the most obvious negative was of course the blackburn goal and the lead up to it. great header by mccarthy though.
Am I Aidys Mentor SEE BELOW Just a little something I suggested a little while back, the last time that Gavin was injured. Glad to see that Aidy was listening yet again Old 07-12-2006, 07:44 PM #18 The Voice of Reason Junior Hornet Lee Chambers Shittu Demerrit Stewart (C) Bangura Young Smith Francis Hendo Bouazza Alec Spring Malky Priskin Doyley As you can see, I would give it to Jordan, as I think he would respond well to the responsibility, but I think it may well be Francis.
Aidy has a dilema IMHO Should Gavin get his place back, after the performances of Francis & Bang Bang in MF, and Jordan as captain tonight :-\ :-\ :-\
Thats a very good question i bet it will not be easy for Aidy to chose but i guess he will pick mahon if fit but in place of who. I would like to stick with the 2 who won tonight, they seem to play better without mahon;D
Against ManU on Trafford I would actually drop BangBang for Mahon, as I'm not sure BangBang is quite ready for the big matches and big teams (like we saw against Liverpool). Then again, he was very good last night and maybe "throwing him to the lions" is the best way for him to mature. Perhaps the awful game vs Liverpool actually gave him confidence vs Blackburn (in an "I've played against Liverpool so who the h3ll are Blackburn?!" kind of way?)
love watching us play football... I think the team should be unchanged... The back four were immense... (before and after Shittu went off) Mariappa was my man of the match.. he seems to gain an extra half a second on the ball when you least expect it... you think to yourself clear it, CLEAR IT!...and then he takes a touch or two and decides to play football...great pace, great vision and hopefully a great future! With Bangura, Bouazza and Mariappa in the team, having played together for so long in reserves and the academy, the quality of the football is starting to come through and looks very impressive... when these 3 academy boys start playing, and then bring Smith and the eager and impressive Hoskins into the play, we looked superb with fast flowing football...(blackburn were pretty bad though).. which had the knock on effect of inspiring Francis... And Henderson looks such a good player playing with a proper front man! Sorry Mahon... as Aidy says "we need to play to our strengths!"...and on this performance, our strengths for the next game does not include you..
He had a good game but far from MOTM. Too often inexperience showed when an older head would have continued a move, put a cross in when going forward. But a couple of good cracks at goal 2nd half.
I wasn't there so I don't know how we as a team or individuals played except what my dad told me over the phone, but it sounded we had a brilliant performance. I'm glad Bang Bang has had a good game at last, and also Francis, maybe, just maybe he can start to become the player we hoped he would. As for Stewart I've not been critical of him on here, but I was suprised when I was told he'd been the Captain (especially as i thought he was our worst player against Villa) Sounded like Hoskin's had a good game as well, so positives for a nice change!
