The site was down for about an hour today from 9am. I'd like to say that for once it wasn't the hosting company but 100% my fault! I've been testing some software that automatically backs up the SQL database at night. I made an error in the settings which meant that the backup software tried to back up the database while a backup was already being made, (is that a record for the word backup in one sentance?). This greatly upset the database so it threw it's toys out of it's pram and shut down SQL totally. All sorted now, as are the settings in the automatic backup software.
Sorry The Hornet. I was actually being a good admin and running it on the test servers database first, but as SQL decided to get the hump in general then it affected all databases. Everything should be OK now. Security settings are almost complete, backups are "now" automatic and done every night, the hosting company appears to have moved us to a quieter server too, so in theory all should be stable from now on.
Cool. Admin is banned we can run riot.;D ................. ................. ................. ................. ??? Anyone got any ideas
After my Wooter faux pas, I shall have a self imposed ban from 4.30pm to tomorrow morning. Nothing whatsoever to do with pub match pub kebab tonight. Enjoy
Good news is that the automatic backup worked flawlessly last night. If anything bad ever happens we'll only lose a days posts at the very worst.
Made the mistake of having one of those burgers from outside the ground Loads of Geordies in the pubs in town before the match. Good atmosphere, especially in Moons. Afterwards we just made o'neils for a pint before they closed, (damn you extra time and penalties), then off to Lloyds bar, (I think), until it closed. Cab home then all piled into one of the chaps houses for a nightcap until we woke his wife up and she told us to go home! Apart from the result a great night out
Cool, is the kebab house next to the theater still there? I used to love the kebabs and burgers from there!
No fair! I had to leg it from the ground to the station, no time to get a couple of cans or food for the journey home, just about got my connection at Clapham but missed the last direct train home so had to pay £18 for a taxi home from the closest station, got in at about 1.45am, sober, starving and shivering.
suit? yes, birthday? no! Came straight from work so was in my working clothes, not all that sensible when watching footy. If I hadn't got my laptop and files with me I would have taken something warmer to wear but had enough to carry as it was Also didn't expect to still be travelling home gone midnight!
20th November: Servers that host wfccforums were rebooted due to "an unforseen error" as the admins of our hosting service told me! 30 minutes down time should lead to faster boards now! Sorry if you were in the middle of a game EDIT: Now found out they were under attack, (not us), so they've beefed up security!
At least it gave me time to realise why I don't watch TV much anymore. Did manage to grab another game too, fishing something or other, I'll upload it now.
