AHHHHHHHH!!!!

So i am teaching my year 6 class History and one of the kids from another class comes in and says "sir the champions league trophy is here!" So we all go and have a look in the hall. What do i see........ The whole school looking at me and laughing as the Championship play off trophy with the palace colours on it is mock presented to me by one of the co owners of Palace friend whose sister is the deputy head at my school!

I have to say the trophy is heavier than I thought but I got my revenge in by saying to them "enjoy it, dont spend all the money and next year I will arrange the Championship trophy to be brought in".

He was actually ok and seemed a nice guy, I was talking to his sister about him and she said the four other owners had to put 1 million into the club each year to keep them going after the previous regime. He also apparently said that they will not be buying any big players and are using the money to fund the stadium although they are still looking for a buyer (I didnt have the guts to ask if Napoli had enquired).

Just thought I would share an awful experiance with you all but fair play to them, if it wasnt for Hollowhead, I would be rooting for them next year.

I viewed a property over the weekend which I'm considering putting at offer on. I'm a First Time Buyer and have no idea what I'm doing really!

The house has everything I need, plus a bit extra, and is in a really nice area. However, it is listed as 'Offers Over', which has thrown me off a bit. I hate offering the asking price for things, should I just ignore it and offer say 5-10% below the asking price, or should I actually offer what they want? I have no idea of the etiquette on these things. The property have been for sale for 6 months, so clearly nobody else has offered the asking price.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Two years ago today, I proposed to my lovely girlfriend. For the first time ever, I showed a romantic side, whisking her away for a week in Greece...

Two years ago today, I proposed to my lovely girlfriend. For the first time ever, I showed a romantic side, whisking her away for a week in Greece before stopping off on the south-coast for one final night on the return journey, drunkenly going down on one knee in an area of the beach we used to walk to get away from the stress of what used to be University. With the lights of the Isle of Wight glowing nicely and its many boats passing by, with the moon shining bright as we reminisced over old times, the best times, in the city that we loved, in the city that we studied, and most importantly, in the city that we met all those years ago, there we were, sitting arm-in-arm, there she was in two minds about what I was just about to do - get myself a sticky finger, or something else less romantic. Well, she was wrong (partly).

The scene was set, and so I proposed. And I was lashed.

I undid the zip and pulled it out, before slowly pushing her finger into my ring. She was excited. And I was still lashed.

There was a whole host of things that were going through my head when she said 'yes'........... 'Does she like the ring?'..... 'Has she noticed the ring was from cash converters?'........'Will I get laid tonight?'....... and so on. Most importantly, I wondered if I had just lost all my man points that I had worked tirelessly over the years to gain. In one crazy, drunken moment on the beach of Portsmouth, I feared I had just lost all lad status.

Those man points weren't easy. Gaining lad status was hard work. Nobody enjoys piercing your roommates pack of ten with a drawing pin, or tactfully putting tomato soup in the shower head, or emptying pasta starch into condoms and carefully placing them around your mates bedroom in time for when he returns back from collecting his long-distance girlfriend from the station, but sometimes, it has to be done. Sometimes, you have to ride the bucking bronco wearing nothing but a pair of ankle socks, or swapping the sun lotion for mayonnaise, or parading the unknown **** who just crawled out of a mates bed round the entire front room, explaining that 'in this house, we've set standards and norms... nobody leaves until you play FIFA, and we've all scored you out of 10'. These things happen. It wasn't my fault that I turned up to the introductory lecture still lashed from the night before, with p*nis written across my forehead in permanent marker pen. It wasn't my fault that I bumped into Harry Redknapp in a Pompey bar and subsequently started to question him about his 'twitchy eye', angering the ***** out of him in the process. It wasn't my fault that somebody displayed posters all round the city of a mate who was labelled as being on the sex register, despite the university's IT department finding evidence on a library computer that was assigned to me at the time. I didn't want to let the tyres down of a mates car on the morning of his exams, and I didn't want to spike his spag bol with magic mushrooms, but man points are man points, and I craved them. Don't get me wrong, I learnt some valuable lessons during this time.... you know, the usual stuff..... the powerful option on a shower should never be used as a substitute for bog roll for example, and I really do wish I had some prior knowledge that girls generally dislike being 'tricked' into playing naked twister, and oh, nearly forgot this nugget, sand really does get everywhere. So does deep heat, especially if it was accidently sprayed on a bar of soap.

Evidently, through man and boy, I've been a lad, my credentials are not in doubt. I can't say I've been there and done it, because I haven't. I really wanted to play naked twister after all.

But one thing is for sure, following the famous Watford is, for me at least, a lads day. It reminds me a bit of the Hangover film. Anything really can happen. Thankfully, since proposing, I have regained elements of the lad status that won me 'Bell of the year' two years running. But this is becoming pretty hard to sustain, be it through age, maturity, money, or simply because I *****ing proposed to her and I can't do half the sh*t I want to.

So lads... tell me... On your away days at Watford, or your frequent trips down the Vic, or perhaps elsewhere in years gone by.... What has ultimately constituted towards you being a proper lad?

I know it isn't cool, but I'm sitting here watching the final of BGT, and I'm in awe of the effort and dedication that these kids have put into their performances.

PreSchool, in the Final this year, are only one of several kids dance groups that have done well this year, and having brought up a few kids myself, to think about the effort they've all put in to it, it brings tears to my eyes.

It was great to see teenage lads, brought up in tough areas, channelling their efforts into something other than crime, gangs and street corners. The young girl singers, seem so mature, and seem a world away from the likes of child stars we used to get when I was younger, such as Bonnie Langford.

No, not cool, some acts are horrendous, but I like BGT.
