Decathlon

I've been thinking about the decathlon and wondering if it would be a good idea to have an Olympic Decathlon rather than just an athletics one so that an all round olympic competitor could be crowned.

The current athletic events are:

100 metres
Long jump
Shot put
High jump
400 metres
110 metres hurdles
Discus throw
Pole vault
Javelin throw
1500 metres


I'm suggesting a more vaired mix:

100 meters
High Jump
Javelin
Archery
Track Cycling event
Rowing Event
Sailing Event
Judo
Freestyle swimming
Gymnastics Vault

Anything I've missed / thoughts?

Bit like the pentathlon; Running, Swimming, Shooting, Fencing and Horse riding (on a hore they don't know)

It was supposed to represent all the skills needed of an 18th century cavalry officer behind enemy lines. Quite a few all round sports there in yours too

I like this idea. Maybe we could have one that represent's the skills needed to live in a 21st century world.
