1- Hart, 13- Green, 23- Butland
2- Johnson, 6- Terry, 5- Cahill, 3- Cole, 12- Baines, 18- Jagielka, 14- Jones, 15- Lescott
8- Lampard, 19- Downing, 7- Walcott, 16- Milner, 11- Young, 4- Gerrard, 17- Parker, 20- Oxlade-Chamberlain
9- Carroll, 21- Defoe, 10- Rooney, 22- Welbeck
Going by squad numbers, you can deduce the likely team he may field against France.
Hart, Johnson, Terry, Cahill, Cole, Walcott, Lampard, Gerrard, Young, Milner, Carroll??

Denmark today heard the news that regular number 1 Thomas Sørensen has been withdrawn from the Danish squad due to a back injury. In his place Kasper Schmeichel has been called up.
This is a major worry because while we have a good backup in Anders Lindegaard of ManU - he has been injured for very long and is not in shape. Schmeicjhel is a good Championship keeper but not ready for international football. Our final keeper is Stephan Andersen who plays for Evian in the best French league and he is someone I don't rate at all.
With Denmark playing the Germans, the Dutch and the Portuguese - having to switch keepers at this late stage is a massive problem. Not that we had any chance of doing anything before this.

Adam Johnson for Downing, Danny Graham for Rooney and I'll be happy.

In a word for the England squad - Underwhelming.

Adam Johnson for Downing, Danny Graham for Rooney and I'll be happy.Johnson for Downing is a no-brainer. But Graham for Rooney is controversial to say the least. Rooney may not be able to play the first two games but in a third potentially crucial game he'd be a vital player.

After the last world cup, I'd never pick Rooney for England again.

After the last world cup, I'd never pick Rooney for England again.I agree with this. He lets England down in major tournaments time after time. This one is no different with his petulance banning him from the first two games.
Stay at home Rooney and let some other prima donna have a chance.

I can see your logic but not sure that will be the case. Saturday against the belgo's will tell us more.

Who would you replace?
Immediatley?
Downing, Carroll, Johnson, Jones.
All have had average/poor seasons at least since Christmas (In Jones' case) and could easily be replaced by other players.
Again, off the top of my head,
Adam Johnson for Downing,
One of Holt/Graham for Carroll,
Micah Richards for Glen Johnson,
Even Rio Ferdinand for Jones at a first glance.

I think, injuries permitting Hodgson will pick:
Hart
Johnson
Terry
Cahill
Cole
Downing
Parker
Gerrard
Milner
Young
Carroll
I think Hodgson, being fairly conservative, will want a holding midfielder sitting on opposition's 'no.10' and wide players that will be prepared to defend. Personally, I think the squad suits a 4-3-3 but can't see him moving from a 4-4-2.
It will be:
Hart
Johnson - Terry - Cahill - Cole
Parker - Lampard
Walcott - Gerrard - Young
Carroll

Personally, I would be happy with that team, lampard's inclusion would definately help keep possession better.

Why Micah Richards is not in the squad is beyond me :boo:
Why Micah Richards is not in the squad is beyond me :boo:
He's not in the squad for the same reason he was dropped by Man City; he is a defensive liability who is unable to follow specific instructions.
Also, anyone saying that Rooney shouldn't have been picked needs their head testing.
For the first two:
Hart
Johnson - Terry - Cahill - Cole
Walcott - Gerrard - Parker - Downing
Carroll - Young
Then, for our final game of the tournament, Young on the left and Rooney next to Carroll.
Completely different to the lineup I'd use but hey, I'm not England manager, probably for a reason.
Every single time a squad gets announced, everyone pops up out the woodwork and disagrees with half of the squad. Im content.

Bet Carrick wishes he had accepted a role as a stand-by now...

So does the rest of England bar Jordan Henderson.
