On Saturday Sean Dyche's Watford travel to London Road to play Darren Ferguson's Peterborough in the 45th game of the NPower Championship. The home side come into the game on the back of a 3-1 defeat to second place Southampton with goals from Hooievild and a brace from Billy Sharp before a late consolation goal from Tommy Rowe. Watford on the other hand come into the game from a 2-2 draw with Gus Poyet's Swan Lake, with goals from Troy Deeney and a magnificent free kick from young Sean Murray. Peterborough sit below Watford in 18th place with 12 points less than the Hornets. The previous fixture earlier in the season ended in a 3-2 win to the Hornets with a brace from Marvin Sordell and a goal from Mark Yeates. The two Posh scorers were Frecklington and Sinclair.
Watford will have Adrian Marriappa back from suspension after he was sent off for two yellow card offences against Hull after he returned from injury. It is not yet known whether Marriappa will dislodge the current partnership of Martin Taylor and Nyron Nosworthy. Stephen McGinn is still out after a long term injury. More team news to follow. It is unlikely that Big Chris will start the game as two game within a week may be too much for the veteran striker. Watford's key player will be Jonathon Hogg who will be needed to break up the Posh attacking orce.
Peterborough come into the tie on the back of three consecutive losses, two of which were at London Road sandwiched either side of a defeat at Leeds. Watford on the other hand come in the game on the back of three striaght draws two of which were away games. More team news to follow.

It's down to whether Iwelumo can play two games a week and I think it may be too much for him. I haven't got a team prediction right all year

We need iwelumo to come on at half time. Always handy to have a big guy playing away from home against a physical side like peterborough. His experiance too is invaluable.

Fair enough, personally I'd rather see Iwelumo start with the possibility of bringing on Garner or Britt (or massey) to replace. Was about to post that I though maps would start but the double yellow rustiness tackles might persuade Dyche to stick with Taylor and nos.

That and he was unfit when he came on, it might take a while to recover his fitness. Emu scares opponents defence I'd rather him come on when the opposition are tired and he can match the defenders for 'pace'.

I can see your logic, I personally would prefer to steam in from the kick off and take the game by the scruff of the neck, rather than waiting to play the trump card in the 2nd half.

Peterborough are one if those sides that can rip you apart on their day especially at home. Having said that, if we approach the game the right way, then I would expect us to win this one. Neither side have much to play for though, apart from pride. The strength of the English mentality means that 100% is given at all times, even in a dead rubber, which is credit to the Championship. I expect a hard fought encounter, but we will just about edge it by the odd goal.

I would quite like to see some of the youngsters get a run out today. Deeney should start even though he has been chargeds with affray and assault.
The club would have known about the Deeney situation months ago and before they gave him a new contract.
Talk of dropping him is stupid and I'm getting sick of certain people playing judge, jury and executioner on a limited amount of facts.

Talk of dropping him is silly, I agree, IF people are saying so because they think he was having a punch up, fighting with police etc.
But if Dyche thinks that Deeney is not in the right frame after his reaction to this story coming out into the media, then he probably should be dropped, as he could affect team performance. That's what I was saying.

A few more stats..
Although we're proving hard to beat, we've not won now in 5 matches. Amazingly, that's our worst run without a victory since we failed to win any of our first 5 matches right at the start of the season!
We're now unbeaten in 6 away games, our best run on the road since Aug/Sept 2010.
Overall, we'e lost just 3 of our last 18 games.
Deeney is now our clear top scorer of the season with 11 and we've not lost this season in a match he's scored.
Ditto in all 7 of the matches Murray's scored. In fact, we've still only lost 1 of the 15 league games he's started this season. Malteser's Player Of The Season, despite nobody agreeing!
We'e now gone 28 away games without managing to score 3 on the road.

To say we were lucky not to lose is ridiculous. Kuszczack didn't actually make a save. A pen, a screamer, and another which would have been a goal of the season contender aside, we, especially first half, dominated like I've never seen before. 3 goals minimum should have been scored first half, and 1 second, 4 at least overall Peterborough were lucky to get 2.

Fair play for picking a student, they often have ideas above their station anyway in my experience.
Today was the best away day since we last played at Posh. The atmosphere on the terrace was spot on. How we weren't five or six up at half time is beyond me - we murdered them. Hit the post a couple of times, two cleared off the line, Hoggy missed a sitter and Deeney fluffed a one on one. I'm pretty sure their equaliser was going wide until Dicko's unfortunate deflection.
The chants today were great. "That boy Troy Deeney, he hates the police" plus chants about old players including H, Palmer, Smart, Mooney, Springy, Jonno...and then someone tried starting a chant about Vialli and got drowned out with booing.
It is a great shame the terrace is being replaced with seats, away days like that are too rare.

Top day out, great atmosphere on the terraces probably the best all season. Always good to bring out a few of the less sung songs.
A game we should have won, dominant for large parts of it but we couldn't put it in the net! We played some of the best stuff i've seen all year.
Hit the post a few times, their goalie made some good saves etc. One of those days.
Peterborough were pretty much shight. Not sure if it should have been a penalty and their other goal was one cleverly laid corner. They also had a chance off the bar which might have crossed the line (according to a friend sitting on the side). Small time club hoping to stay in the Championship every year, friendly fans. The easiest away ground to get to this season!

First trip to PeaBoro today, love being old school on the terrace but forgot how sore the feet can get if you don't get a barrier to lean on.
We should have won this by a couple of clear goals. Jones was inspired for them in goal and we faile to take some good chances.
Best thing was te pub barge on the river just down from the ground. Real ales, lots of room in and outside. A good end to the away trips this season.
Now to decide on that season ticket for next year.

My first post on here but I've got to say that was a quality day out, god I love the terraces. Great atmosphere, the Sean Murray song after his goal was deafening...I thought them days were gone for me and Watford but I'm going to have to take in more away days next year. As for the match, that was the most surreal first half I've seen for ages, how we weren't 4-1 up at half time I'll never know (in particular, Hogg's 10 yard certainty, Eustace clear header onto post and Deeney one on one),it was unbelievable but superb effort by the boys. Fair play to the lads and the 1760 wfc fans, Watford til I die..

nice to see the BBC report is as good as ever
Paul Taylor's stunning equaliser helped Peterborough snatch a much-needed point against Watford at London Road.
Having lost their three previous Championship matches, Peterborough twice came from behind to deny the Hornets all three points.
Peterborough striker Troy Deeney cancelled out Lee Tomlin's early penalty before Sean Murray restored Watford's lead in the second half.

I don't bother reading bbc reports anymore. They've been covering the football league for a few years and still don't have a clue. I don't think they care, the only time one of our match reports would be spot on is if we were playing Liverpool!

That was a cracking day out, the barge did serve a nice real ale and the atmosphere and football matched it, it was like going back to the mid 90's. LB wasn't giving anything away though when asked about a takeover! I wouldn't mind a bit of relegation to be honest if I could stand at a game again! The old school songs were quality, especially my favourite of all time, N-gonge my Lord.
We have a good basis to build on for next season, it would be a dream to have TK in the sticks but it is never going to happen, Dicko seems to have learnt how to defend all of a sudden, Murray is something special and we look like scoring goals. Lots of work to do though, Deeney still misses a lot more than what he scores, we need a new keeper and Murray will need to play in the centre to have more of an impact in the game as he is wasted out wide in my opinion.
A few decent signings, especially out wide and upfront and we will be potential top 10 challengers.

Loved the terracing, great atmosphere, with a good following for what was a dead rubber. Like others have said cannot believe we didn't win it, we need to convert more of the chances we create.
Next season would love a top 10 finish - it looks very possible if SD can keep the key members of the squad together during the summer.
Charters Bar was excellent afterwards, as was the Cherry Tree pre kick-off.

Yes - it was pretty funny, but he was just as happy as any of us when that goal went in! For anyone nearby during the game that's long been wanting to identify me - I was one of the two guys he was standing with in the Green.
Proper away day, was my favourite game since the last time we played them - i'm also pretty sure during those first 45 minutes I saw some of the best football i've seen from a Watford side in a very long time. Could of been 4 or 5 up and that's no over exaggeration, good to see Whichelow coming on and confirming what we all already thought, i'd say arguably he's as talented as Murray, hopefully next year he can put other issues aside and make the impact he should have done this year - he has that natural ability to get through players like they are not there, you can't teach that.

Great day out as others have said. I just had a feeling we would pay for those missed chances and so it proved but a point away from home is always OK.
It's such a shame that it could be the last time I watch Watford on a terrace. It was great bundle after Murray's goal which resulted in my shades flying off my head and no doubt getting trampled on oh well **** happens. Could I possibly make a claim for them against Peterborough United FC for failing to ensure the safety of my property though?

Me and my mate got in, they didn't let my boyfriend in because he looked 'shaky'. He had no battery on his phone so I asked the bloke on the turnstile if I could go out and talk to him and see what was happening. He said he couldnt as i'd already entered.
I explained that I just wanted to talk to my boyfriend but once again they didnt allow me to leave. I said, "why the f not?" and one of the stewards who was outside the ground pointed through and said "right, you out" I turned around and started to walk off with my friend when the steward outside the ground shouted to a steward walking towards me and said "get her" to which he then grabbed me around my chest/neck.
I was obviously a bit shocked because a male steward had grabbed me, so I kicked off and pushed him off me, police saw this and helped the steward bundle me out of the ground.
Absolutely ridiculous, the police said that they wouldn't have a problem with me going back into the ground but the head steward was having none of it because (im guessing) I pushed a steward...
While all this was happening, they decided to let my boyfriend in - who then couldn't find me!!
Got a section 27 ticket and was escourted away from London Road. Decided to just get on the next train home.

If they grabbed you before any other contact then I think you might be able to have a go at them for assault. At the very least I'd expect the cost of the tickets for the day refunded for your whole party. To make the complaint go away. Although to be fair, dropping the f bomb is never going to help. No matter how unreasonable stewards or the police are, its always best to bite your lip and complain later. Easy to say in hindsight I know and I'm sorry it ruined your day.
