Watford keeper Ben Foster believes The Hornets will start climbing the Premiership table sooner rather than later.

A slow start to life back in England's top flight sees Watford bottom of The Premiership after collecting just one point from their opening four games.

The on-loan Manchester United shot-stopper knows Adrian Boothroyd's side are better than their position suggests and is backing his colleagues to bring about a change of fortunes.

"It's just not going for us at the moment. We're creating a lot of chances against teams, it's just we're not taking them and we're getting punished for it," Foster told Sky Sports News.

"We can't believe where we are to be honest with you. We're very upbeat about it. We know we're better than where we are in the league. We know it's going to turn around."

Meanwhile, Foster is determined to retain his place in England's squad after being an unused substitute for Steve McClaren's last Euro 2008 qualifier against Macedonia.

"Four years ago I was working in a kitchen," he added. "If someone had said in four years you'd be on the bench for England against Macedonia, well I can't say what I'd have said.

"It's been a massive achievement for me. I've come a long way in a short space of time.

"I just want to play football, whether it be for England, Watford or Manchester United."

You can see if Watford secure their first win of the new Premiership season against high-flying Aston Villa on Saturday at 5pm (GMT), live on PremPlus.

Great words!!
And i truly believe that he will get his shot at the Number 1 shirt for the country in the Euro Qualifiers and prove his worth to maclaren.. maclaren sems to favour the players that are not as high profile unlike previous managers and i am confident that will stand us in good stead for the euro 2008 competition.
