Damien Scannell, who has already been mentioned on here, but for those who don't know he is 21 and currently plays for Fisher Athletic.

He plays in MF and is supposed to be highly rated, Forrest, Swansea and Northampton are all interested in him. However, he has been on trial with us for a week and we are apparently close to offering him a deal.

Aidy is a big fan of Freddie Eastwood, but knows he is unlikely to be able to get him, according to one of the Sunday Red Tops ??? Are they suggesting we are not good enough for him? >:D

They go on to say that Colchesters Chris Iwelkumo is a more realistc target for us. I agree he could be worth a look at, cause he is scoring for fun at the moment!

However, I object to the insinuation that the likes of Eastwood are not for us. He plays for a team that look certain to be going down, so why would he turn his nose up at us, ****** CHEEK I SAY :mad:

No, they're more likely taking into account that Southend are asking £5m for him (an amount we will never spend on one player) and that there are more established Premiership clubs after him - who would you choose if you were a pro? The team in 20th or a team clear of the relegation fight. Hmmm...

Agreed. The same can be said for 99% of the players we're linked with. And if they do want to come we have to stump up there wages and demands.

Eastwood would be a good signing next season, if we go down or not. Can't see the lad from non-league being ready this season either.

Either way, we have to have some long term plan in place, and if we get this guy from Fisher he will be part of that.
