Never.

Russos out.

do you realy think lump will want to try and play and give his all after the treatment he got from the fans?

He has to do nothing but starve and collect his pay cheque. Leave on a free, negotiate a lesser wage with a team coming up from league one and the same stroy will unfold, except his new club won't have paid £3million and may think it worth a punt.

Well personally I wouldnt be surprised if we see him on the bench for the first game of the season.

What happens if he's comes on with 20 mins to go, scores a couple and wins us the game? You know full well what football fans are like (specially us lot) He'd be a cult hero overnight for sure.

I'll PM you about the beer, i have some extremely good news to share!! ;)

If he does stay (which, from what i've been told, looks likely), I am quietly confident he'll prove a lot of people wrong.

He has the ability, it's just up to him whether he chooses to come to the party!

Let's face it, he won't playing in a team that hoof the ball from the back anymore. He won't be expected to run around like a headless chicken looking for the 'second ball'.

Get the ball into his feet, and he could do some damage.

We'll just have to wait and see. IMO, he showed some glimpses two seasons ago that if he's in the right team, he could do something.

He doesn't justify the 18k a week though, so if anyone comes in with an offer, he's got to go!

Well if wfc want to offload hm, the best chance is that he is playingh and does well or shows signs - so I to expect him to be involved at least from the bench.

Strangely, he and Tamas may just click - how weird would it be with the rookery bellowing out songsof Tams and Duke - eat your heart out Marlon!

Beers - lets try and arrange tomorow a date for this coming week or a next - i'm of to Barca on 22nd for the pre season thingy.

I'll give him a chance before I start slagging him off so hopefully he can prove himself and actually score a lot of goals. Don't think he will be that much different than the crimes we witnessed last time.

Why has everyone on here suddenly thought now, let's keep him, surely the club could just release him from the contract, and therefore he would be free to go and find another club.

We would have to pay off his contract, so it is pointless.

You really do never know!

If we're paying his wages, we may as well see if he can up his game. Surely he's got some professional pride? Or is that wishful thinking? Perhaps he'll have one eye on the 2010/11 season because the level of his wages (at whatever club) after this coming season will be very much dependent on how he does this.

He's undoubtedly got much more ability than he's shown for us so far so it's not as much as a gamble as hoping to nurture an unproven player with potential. Of course, the most serious drawback is what we're paying him every week.

He's actually on something between £20k-£25k.

He really has to leave because he's *****ing up our wage re-structuring. Hopefully he can show something positive before the end of August so that someone will take him on a free.

Nope, his contract with us runs out _after_ the 2010/11 season.

Ellington will most likely want to put his time at Watford behind him and to do so he must prove to other teams that he's still good enough and warrant a bid or even signing him on a free at the end of this eason. Either way he has nothing to lose, he improves and has a good season and bangs in a few goals, he'll end up playing for another Championship team still earning a fair piece. OR he flops and ends up rotting away in League 2 for the remainder of his career on minimal wages.

With a new Board/Management in place hopefully he'll see this as a 2nd chance rather than a wasted opportunity, afterall it his 'profession' (hahaha) and he must have some sort of pride about it all.

Yeah. He's gonna be ace. Once he's finished fasting and recovered his conditioning, he'll be ready to give us 3 or 4 games.

I'm hoping for a career ending injury and an insurance payout.

If he is as crap as I expect him to be, you give me a tenner, if he proves me wrong and does score 20+ goals then I will be more than happy to hand a tenner over to you.

Can Ellington play in the hole as a supporting striker or is his natural position up top?

I was thinking that maybe he and Tamas could forge something decent?

The only thing he's managed to forge thus far is his "Accredited Professional Footballer" Certificate.

i feel optimistic for4 ellington hes a highyl rated striker who had a season that be fair he didnt do overly useless i thought he did but if you look at it he did average which could all the more change this season and became the player he was at previous clubs i say at least 15 plus goals if he plays at his ability now

Disagree. When he was playing for us, his touch was woeful, he had no pace and showed nothing which could pass for "skill."

People are letting their imaginations run away with them here, though I don't blame them (the alternative that Ellington is really as bad as we all remember is just too much to bear).

At best, Ellington will come in for a couple of games here and there, maybe as sub and do a bit of this and that. People will see this as him recovering form, with some sort of promise around the corner, but it won't be. That's as good as it's going to get.

It's disasterous news that he'll be with us next season and the worst possible thing that could happen would be if Malky was as convinced as people on this thread, that given an 8th chance to prove himself, Ellington would respond with some performances. If he sees that Ellington is a viable part of our strike force next season, I think we're Ducked.

I agree it is a disaster that Clough didn't want him and that we have to keep him and his wage load.

But as long as he is on our pay roll we may as well use him. Don't forget - if he becomes a viable part of our strike force, there's a greater chance someone else will want him.

Let see if he's in shape and what Malky has in store.

Macca i'll take that bet. I'll have £100 with you. Ellington is useless, he is slow, lazy and seems to be unaware of the fact you have to put the ball in the back of the net. Most of all though he is uncommited. He got a nice big contract off us and he knows he can sit around and earn his money by doing **** all the lazy canut

Ellington will be part of our squad next year, who's going to take him on his wages ?

He'll play 10 or 15 games, a lot of time on the bench, play in hte carling cup and score 6 or 7 goals in the season
