Personally thought the FIFA 08 demo on the 360 was crap, FIFA's gameplay is as poor as ever and I wasn't as impressed with the graphics as every one else seems to be...

PES 2008 will be far superior in more or less every way imo.

Do you have an HD TV? The graphics are all set up for that now really. The gameplay is much improved on past versions and is now really no different to Pro - a game which has only moved sideways in recent years IMO.

I run my 360 through a 23" LCD PC moniter, which obviously is of an equal if not higher quality/resolution than the majority of HD tv's. Although I would agree with what you say about PES only moving sideways in the last few versions, I have much higher hopes for this one. Never really liked FIFA and really didn't like what I saw from the demo, just my opinion though!

After now playing both demo's, I can say that I find it truly hilarious that some people think that FIFA is genuinely better this year. PES 2008 has far better gameplay and AI, and even though everyone seems to be raving about FIFA's graphics, PES is again far superior. The player likenesses are also quite amazing this time round. The only thing I don't like about the demo is that you can't play a multiplayer match, which wasn't the greatest earlier when I had 3 mates round ready to play it with! :(:rant:

That brings me to one of the great things about PES, the great EDIT MODE (which has again been improved). Not having Watford on there doesn't matter, you just make them, it's all part of the fun. :)

Couldn't give a monkeys about the AI league management bit. I don't buy the game for that. If you want to manage a team buy FM. However, seen as you can't even play as a League 2 club in Pro I'd say that was advantage FIFA.

Also, though I take your point about your experience of scoring on both games you were obviously playing someone abysmal. Hardly a decent test. Having played both games at times I find that on Pro you can just find unreal space and sprint down the wing, angle a run in on goal and tap it past the keeper. It's something I see almost every single match. FIFA is much more varied.

I don't dislike Pro in every respect but in most ways I prefer FIFA. I'd say the games are pretty much even now anyway.

That brings me to one of the great things about PES, the great EDIT MODE (which has again been improved). Not having Watford on there doesn't matter, you just make them, it's all part of the fun. :)

now that i just cant agree with its so much easier to score on pro evo than on fifa if you turn it up to the highest difficulty level and play rather than against your mate who by the fact you trashed him so bad on both seems to be awful then you will see that fifa is in fact the better and more challenging game

i haven't experienced this problem i mainly play with swansea on fifa aswell as on fm as its a lower league team and the stats n fifa are farily accurate for a team in league 1

A crap review - even my PES loving housemate who's played the FIFA demo agrees it's unnecessarily harsh. I've just downloaded PES demo. Players look amazing but it's like they're running through jelly. There's no real build up to anything, just three passes and a through ball and you have a dead cert goal. Was impressed by the sight of the ref on the pitch and in my first match two Argies got booked for diving. Also like the 'team pressure' button. The big downer for me is the interface (which I don't like) and the lack of leagues on the full version. That said I think the games are pretty even.

Yeah, PES8 on the 360. Apparently Konami have been working specially with Microsoft on this version, whatever that means.

The consol to start with looks far more impressive with its touch buttons and no disk tray like the 360. imp the ps3 games seem to be much better and the graphics on the ps3 on a hd tv are amazing the 360 graphics dint look as impressive and also the ps3 online play is free whats nice and F1 online on the ps3 is class.

i cant as i have not play them games. i have f1 and the graphics on a hd tv are great also i have virtual tennis 3 and the graphics for that are better then graphics on top spin 2 on the xbox360. however top spin is the better game also i have fall of resistants and oblivion both great games and great graphics.

I do like the xbox360 and can wait for the new halo and project gotham.

I have it on the PS2 and I think some of the changes they have made to it are a bit silly.

The speed of the game is too fast. I know this can be changed when you are playing offline but when online the default is too quick and everyone runs around like Asafa Powell.

You can gain posession by running into someone without actually making a tackle.

The button swapping of chip shot and placed shot is totally unnecessary!

Speaking generally about graphics though, the FIFA stadiums look amazing. Obviously not seen PES' yet as Konami stadium doesn't exist. Hopefully they'll be a step up from last time round.

Apparently there's only 15 stadiums on PES this time, and not even ONE English/Premiership stadium... I wanted Wembley! :dismay:

Brilliant game according to this, all the more reason to buy it.

The gameplay score got 10/10 in comparison to FIFA which got 6. Sums up the general opinion I suppose.

What a terrible review that is, forgets to mention loads of stuff you'd expect to find out! Wonder why they've only done a PS3 one as well, would of thought they'd release them all at the same time...

Just found a link of a match between Newcastle and AC Milan on a 360. It's a full match including the new, and much improved commentary (Although Lawrenson is a bit dodgy - still better than Brooking though!).

After playing both I've come to the conclusion that Fifa is good this year and PES is utter dogshit tbh. They really do take the ****. Offline it's boring as usual but also it's crap online as well, laggy as ****. Fifa's online capabilities are much better and more fun than pro evo yet again. But they've also made the gameplay much better and realistic this year. The be a pro thing is brill.
